Course Outline Instructor: Mr. Jim Bussard 403-342-6655 ext. This course will allow you to demonstrate your ability to design and work with various materials within the wood shop. We will focus on safe work habits, safety using power equipment, communication, and developing creative problem solving techniques while working in the shop. Supplies/Shop Material fees

The students will:
- demonstrate the safe use of the following: bandsaw, disc/spindle sander, scroll saw jointer, thickness planer, drill press, stationary router, Panel sander, Mitre saws and hand tools
- Identify and show competencies using basic hand tools and power equipment
Planning and Shop Work
The student will:
- read and understand a shop drawing
- prepare a bill of materials
- construct a project with multiple parts
Conservation and Recycling Materials
Students will work independently or as a team to create a recycling system and wood conservation system.
The student will:
- demonstrate an understanding of the issues related to recycling materials
- develop a system to collect, sort and /or process recyclable materials
- use recycled materials to create a product
- Lab Clean-up:
